Accessibility

This site is built to WCAG 2.1 AA. Where it has a known weakness, it is written down here rather than left for you to discover.

What we hold ourselves to

• Every text and background pairing meets AA contrast. Body text measures 15.8:1 on the page ground, and the two accent colours — the green and the red — measure 7.5:1 and 5.3:1 against it.
• Every page has exactly one first-level heading and a heading order that does not skip.
• Every control is reachable and operable from the keyboard, with a visible focus ring.
• Every image carries a text alternative, and decorative marks are hidden from screen readers rather than described.
• Motion respects prefers-reduced-motion. The one animation on the site is disabled entirely when you have asked for reduced motion.
• The page reflows to a 320px viewport with no horizontal scrolling.

A measured weakness, stated plainly

Our two accent colours — a deep green and a red — are close enough in perceptual terms that they are effectively indistinguishable to someone with protanopia or deuteranopia. We measured this rather than assumed it, and an exhaustive search of the available colour space found no alternative pair that clears the threshold. It is structural.

So the mitigation is built into the system instead: no colour on this site ever carries a distinction on its own. Every status, every notice and every state is accompanied by a word. The standing test we hold ourselves to is that you could remove every colour from any screen here and it would still read correctly.
